Nominations are set to close this July for the Loo of the Year Awards 2025 – the UK’s long-running celebration of away-from-home washroom excellence.
More than 1,500 businesses across the UK took part in 2024, with their facilities inspected and graded by independent assessors. Now in its 38th year, the awards scheme is led by businesswoman Becky Wall BEM, and continues to champion washroom standards across the country.
Founded in 1987, the Loo of the Year Awards uses a rigorous grading system based on 101 judging criteria, including cleanliness, décor, signage, accessibility, and customer care. Entrants agree to an unannounced inspection and receive a certificate and window sticker with their official classification.
“The team is working hard as nominations roll in,” said Becky Wall BEM. “We’ve had over 900 entries already, and we’re expecting a last-minute rush before the deadline closes at the end of July.”
Overall, there are 63 different categories in the Loo of the Year awards that can be entered for the away from home washrooms. All entries will be graded and provided with a certificate and window sticker with their classification, from Loo of the Year Awards, for public display.
“This year, I’m excited to celebrate all those washroom technicians who have achieved good grades and awards in our unannounced inspections. I’m expecting it to be a lot of fun,” said Becky.
“As a whole, everyone on the team is excited for the Awards presentation evening in January 2026. We are set to have a new MC for the awards ceremony, Stefan Thomas, and to have a keynote speech from Chris Hunt Skelley MBE. It will really be a day of celebration and innovation,” concluded Becky.
The annual day of celebration is open to all entrants to attend on Wednesday 14th January 2026, when the ‘best of the best’ will be announced.
Nominations for Loo of the Year Awards 2025 closes on Thursday 31st of July.
