POPULAR television antiques expert, auctioneer and jewellery specialist Izzie Balmer has joined the team at RWB Auctions in Royal Wootton Bassett, bringing more than a decade of industry experience to the growing Wiltshire auction house.
Izzie, who is well known to television audiences through programmes including BBC’s Antiques Road Trip, Bargain Hunt and The Travelling Auctioneers, has joined RWB Auctions as a consultant valuer with a specialism in silver and jewellery.
Gareth Wasp, Head Auctioneer, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Izzie to the team, we have got to know her when she has visited our auction house as part of her tv work and we felt she’d bring even more energy and expertise to us our team and to our clients.”
A qualified gemmologist and experienced auctioneer and valuer, Izzie specialises particularly in jewellery and silver and holds both FGA and DGA diplomas from the Gemmological Association of Great Britain.
Her appointment strengthens the specialist expertise already available at RWB Auctions and follows an existing connection with the saleroom. Earlier this year, Izzie was among the experts who visited when the venue hosted filming for BBC One’s The Travelling Auctioneers.
“It’s brilliant having an auction house on the High Street (complete with its own car park!) which makes it very accessible to everyone and generates a real buzz within the town,” Izzie said. “I’m a people person who has always loved history: antiques brings both of those passions together through the items and the stories they tell and the stories of those people who own them now, did own them or may in the future.”
Izzie (37) began her career in the auction industry in Derbyshire, the county where she was born and brought up. She moved to Bristol in 2018 and is a regular expert on television.
