Outstanding ScottishPower takes CSR top spot at Employers Excellence Awards 2026

ScottishPower has been recognised for making a positive difference in the communities it serves after winning the Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the Metro Employers Excellence Awards 2026.

The leading green energy company took the top spot after demonstrating exceptional commitment to social responsibility, community impact, employee wellbeing and environmental stewardship.

The award recognises ScottishPower’s wide-ranging approach to corporate social responsibility, highlighting the many social and sustainability initiatives ScottishPower is successfully delivering to bring real-life and tangible benefits for people and communities the length and breadth of the country.

These include:

  • breaking down barriers to jobs, providing record-breaking numbers of entry level career opportunities;
  • investing £500 million in energy efficiency and fuel poverty programmes to support customers struggling to manage their energy bills;
  • sharing more than £76 million with communities beside windfarms to deliver local projects that matter;
  • raising more than £40 million to support the incredible work of Cancer Research UK;
  • awarding more than £15 million to charitable projects through the ScottishPower Foundation;
  • establishing ambitious partnerships that drive women and girls’ participation in football, from the grassroots up;
  • delivering nature positive outcomes, with more than £4 million invested in peatland restoration; and
  • leading with way on wind turbine blade recycling as projects reach their end of life.

Kate McGeoch, ScottishPower’s Head of Climate Change and Sustainability said: “Winning this award is not just fantastic recognition of the positive social impact ScottishPower has – it’s testament to the dedicated colleagues across the business who are helping to build stronger communities, support our people and create opportunities for future generations every single day.

“As we invest a record-breaking £24 billion in our clean energy future, what we do unlocks economic opportunities, powers sustainable growth, helps restore nature, strengthens communities, and supports skilled jobs across the UK – all of which make a positive and purposeful difference.

“That’s at the heart of everything we do at ScottishPower, and this award reflects everyone’s contribution in creating positive social impact that’s helping build a more sustainable and equitable future for all.”
