New partnership helps Swindon Theatres continue support for people living with dementia

Swindon Theatres are delighted to announce Willowbrook View as the new sponsor of their much-loved Memory Café and Memory Cinema, helping to ensure these valuable community events continue to provide support, connection and enjoyment for people living with dementia, their families and carers.

The Memory Café, held at the Wyvern Theatre, and Memory Cinema, hosted at the Swindon Arts Centre, offer welcoming and inclusive spaces where people can socialise, share experiences, access information and enjoy activities in a relaxed environment.

This new partnership with Willowbrook View will support the ongoing delivery of these events, enabling Swindon Theatres to continue offering accessible, dementia-friendly opportunities that enhance wellbeing and reduce social isolation. As part of their commitment to the wider Swindon community, Willowbrook View regularly supports initiatives that bring people together, reduce isolation and create meaningful opportunities for those living with the impacts of memory loss.

“For over 10 years, Swindon Theatres and Trafalgar Entertainment Trust have been running these incredible projects for the people of Swindon and Wiltshire.” Said Oli Webb, Creative Learning Manager and Chair of the Swindon Dementia Action Alliance “We are delighted that with the support from Willowbrook View, we will be able to continue and even expand our crucial work.  The funding for support living with dementia and their families has been drastically reduced over the last few years, so community initiatives like Memory Cafes are more important than ever. We will be able to support and reach more people at whatever stage they are at in their Dementia journey.”

The Memory Café and Memory Cinema form part of Swindon Theatres’ wider commitment to accessibility, inclusion and community engagement. Through regular events and creative activities, participants can enjoy social interaction, entertainment and valuable support networks in a friendly setting.

Andrew Winstanley, CEO of Connaught Care Collection, said “Memory loss can have a profound impact not only on the individual, but also on their families and the wider community. We are therefore very proud that the team at Willowbrook View are lending their support to the memory events at Wyvern Theatre and Swindon Arts Centre. The scheme plays a vital role in giving people a place to connect, share their experiences and access support – and has already helped hundreds across Swindon. We are therefore very pleased to stand behind it.”

Willowbrook View is an all-inclusive luxury care home in Wichelstowe, Swindon, providing residential, dementia and respite care in a warm, well-designed setting. The home offers spacious en-suite bedrooms, comfortable communal areas and facilities including a cinema, fine-dining bistro, spa and salon. Under Connaught Care’s all-inclusive model, these amenities are covered by a single weekly fee, removing the uncertainty of hidden costs or additional charges.
