Turning pain into power: “Learning Reiki changed my life!”

ENTREPRENEUR Louise Muir-Sage, founder of Something Kind of Woo has become a Reiki Master teacher after finding Reiki changed her life.

In July 2025, Louise opened her high street crystal and spiritual emporium, Something Kind of Woo, in Royal Wootton Bassett. Her high street shop offers crystal events, meditation sessions and opportunities for people to discover their ‘woo’ side.

At the start of this year, Louise announced she has become a qualified Reiki master teacher, meaning she can practice and teach others Reiki.
Reiki is a Japanese healing technique promoting relaxation, stress reduction, and encourages the body’s natural healing process. Reiki helps a wide range of physical, emotional, and spiritual issues.

“Gaining my Reiki master qualification was something I just felt drawn to,” said Louise. “It felt right as learning about Reiki and receiving it myself has changed my life.”

Louise found Reiki at a turbulent point in her life.

“My first experience of Reiki was after an assault when I was 23. I wanted to feel ‘healed’ without discussing what had happened to me. I wasn’t really into ‘woo’ then, but I just needed to do something,” said Louise. “Initially it was a gift to me so that I could complete self-healing, which has now progressed to healing others.”

Reiki involves a trained practitioner placing their hands on or above a person’s body focussing on the body’s energy centres, the Chakras, to promote healing and balance.

Louise shared how Reiki has provided a deep sense of calmness and clarity into her personal life, helping her with her own anxiety, sleep difficulties and wellbeing. Bringing a sense of peace where there was once great pain.

“As a practicing Reiki master, I see vividly the impact this practice has on people. I have seen clients burst into tears or laughter. I have occasionally witnessed people nod off and snore, which I take as a huge compliment as it shows how relaxed they are,” she continued.

To gain her Reiki master teacher status, Louise repeated her level 1 and 2 Reiki training with a new Reiki master.

“I’m excited to be able to teach others to heal themselves. Now I’m a qualified Reiki teacher, I’m able to offer opportunities for anyone to focus on self-healing or those who even want to build their own Reiki practice,” she concluded.

Due to the high demand since Something Kind of Woo opened, Louise, only two months later, opened Something Kind of Woo Too, a space next door for Reiki and spiritual treatments. To register interest in learning Reiki, visit: https://somethingkindofwoo.co.uk/my-work/Reiki-training/
