The National Self Build & Renovation Centre – Passivhaus Workshop

Friday 24th April (9:00 – 17:30)

Held in partnership with the Passivhaus Trust.

Passivhaus is an internationally recognised building standard designed to deliver exceptional comfort, excellent indoor air quality and extremely low energy use. As we spend most of our time indoors, buildings play an important part in our health and wellbeing.

The Centre provides a learning environment where building science becomes easier to understand. Full-scale exhibits and interactive displays show visitors how insulation works in practice, how airtight construction is achieved and how modern ventilation systems operate. Whether applied to a new build or a major renovation, the Passivhaus approach focuses on one thing above all: how a building actually performs.

The most successful and cost-effective way of achieving Passivhaus is by incorporating the standard before your designs are complete, so take advantage of this free workshop to build your knowledge and confidence first. This workshop will offer a full timetable of seminars, question time sessions and live guided tours from the NSBRC technical experts.

Workshop Highlights:

  • Introduction to Passivhaus Principles
  • Surgeries on: Airtightness, Insulation, Ventilation, Windows & Doors – and more!
  • Real Life Case Studies
  • Question Time
  • How to Improve existing buildings
