Surge in demand leads to business growth for the HR Dept Swindon

The Swindon-based HR Dept team have hit the ground running in the New Year, as employers reach out for guidance on managing staff issues.

Against the backdrop of the new Employment Rights Act, which received Royal Assent just before Christmas – bringing with it a tsunami of changes to employment rights – more and more businesses are seeking support and turning to the experts at the HR Dept.

Thanks to the ever-growing workload, the HR Dept team have doubled in size in the last 18 months. Based in Swindon alongside their sister company, which covers the London area, the joint team now stand at more than 20, and are still looking to expand.

Peter Jones, Managing Director of both the Swindon and London HR Dept businesses, said: “We have grown in response to a huge growth in the number of inquiries we receive, and also because of their complexity. Business owners are looking for expert advice, as they – rightly – no longer feel confident in navigating increasingly complex legislation.”

Even in the run-up to Christmas, the team were inundated with inquiries, ranging from those wanting advice on HR compliance, to complex issues around redundancies and dismissal.

Helen Imbusi, Head of HR at the HR Dept, which covers Swindon, North Wiltshire and East Cotswolds, added: “In most cases, employers are trying to do the right thing and have started down the route of, for example, redundancy or dismissal, but HR is so complicated they have come unstuck. That’s where we come in, as we can unpick what has been done, and set the employer on the right course.”
