Society Without Abuse calls for Marlborough shop volunteers

Local domestic abuse charity Society Without Abuse is calling for members of the community to step forward and help bring an end to domestic abuse by volunteering at its Survivor shop in Marlborough.

The shop specialises in quality and high-end, branded womenswear and menswear for budget-conscious shoppers. With great brands on offer, including Armani, Jaeger and LK Bennett, as well as seasonal must-haves, shoes and accessories, the boutique store plays a vital role in raising funds to support individuals and families affected by domestic abuse.

Through supporting victims to recover from the trauma of abuse, as well as working with young people to deliver healthy relationships education and behaviour change programmes to target those who use harmful behaviours, every penny raised in the shop is important to make a difference to lives of people in and around the area.

“Every hour volunteered in our shop directly contributes to the support we can provide to those in need,” said Kerry Wrighton, Shop Manager at Society Without Abuse. “We are incredibly grateful to our volunteers, and we’re always looking to welcome new faces into our friendly team.

“The Survivor shop in Hughenden Yard offers something really special. We are lucky to have a number of regular donors who generously donate high quality, and sometimes even brand new, clothes, as well as vintage items and wonderful eveningwear too. We’re looking for a few more people who can be generous with their time in order to match these wonderful items with shoppers in Marlborough looking for quality without breaking the bank.”

Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Kerry on survivor@societywithoutabuse.org.uk.

If you need advice for yourself or a friend relating to domestic abuse, call Swindon’s domestic abuse helpline on 01793 610610.
