Six friends conquer Mont Blanc to raise funds for Wooden Spoon and give children the chance to thrive

Six friends have successfully conquered Mont Blanc, completing an incredible 4,810-metre challenge to raise vital funds for Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby.

After months of training and preparation, the team took on one of Europe’s most demanding mountain challenges, pushing themselves to their physical and mental limits to reach the summit.

The ascent presented the team with freezing temperatures, exposed terrain, steep ridges and challenging alpine conditions. Despite the demanding environment, the six friends remained determined and successfully reached the summit of Mont Blanc.

The challenge was undertaken by Craig, Alex, Ant, James B, James S and Danny, who originally came together through their time in the Army and have completed a number of challenges together. This time, they set their sights on Mont Blanc with the aim of turning their shared passion for adventure into an opportunity to make a difference to children and young people.

Their fundraising will support Wooden Spoon’s work creating life-changing opportunities for children and young people with disabilities or facing disadvantage across the UK and Ireland. Through the support of its fundraising community, Wooden Spoon gives children the chance to play, learn, thrive and be safe, helping create brighter futures and more inclusive opportunities.

The team are now looking to build on their fundraising total, turning their extraordinary achievement into even more opportunities for children and young people.

A huge thank you goes to the team’s generous sponsors LMAX Exchange, Island, Global Service Group and Omerta, whose support helped make the challenge possible and enabled the team to focus on their goal of reaching the summit and raising funds for Wooden Spoon.

The team’s achievement demonstrates the power of friendship, determination and a shared commitment to making a difference.

Support the team

The team’s fundraising is still open, and every donation will help Wooden Spoon continue to fund projects that give children and young people the chance to play, learn, thrive and be safe.
