Putting the ‘woo’ into in Royal Wootton Bassett

ENTREPRENEUR Louise Muir-Sage welcomed town mayor Cllr Steve Bucknell to cut the ribbon on her crystal emporium, Something Kind of Woo, which was officially opened on Saturday June 21.

Situated at Unit 5 Merchant House, 34 High Street, Louise’s shop sells crystals of all types and she also offers energy healing sessions known as Reiki as she’s an experienced practitioner.

She said: “When the unexpected opportunity arose to open a retail shop, I jumped at the chance. Crystals are far more mainstream now than ever before. Customers come in because they love them as ornaments or shiny objects, because they want to find out about crystals and their properties or they have embraced the power of crystals for many years.”

Louise has already been running Coffee & Crystal events in collaboration with fellow retailer The Little Gem Café for several months. Very quickly these events sold out.

Cllr Steve Bucknell, Royal Wootton Bassett’s major, said the council’s decision to take ownership of Merchant House with various retail units had allowed councillors to ensure that there was now a variety of goods on offer.

“It’s great to see a new independent business opening in our town. Businesses like this make it different to other bigger centres which encourages people to come and visit us,” he said.

“We’re thrilled that the decision by the town council to purchase Merchant House has allowed us to broaden the retail offering here, allowing creative and committed entrepreneurs to attract shoppers and visitors to our community.”

Louise, who lives in Royal Wootton Bassett, will also be hosting events during 2025 and beyond, some at her shop and others elsewhere. In her shop, crystals can be purchased from as little as £1 right up to over £1,000.

“I’m excited about using Something Kind of Woo as a base for my ideas. I’ve got various spiritual events planned, my Coffee & Crystal events with The Little Gem will continue and I now have my own space to offer Reiki to anyone who wants it,” she said.

“We’re thrilled to see Louise putting some ‘woo’ into Royal Wootton Bassett. I’m sure she’ll do well given her attention to detail, the quality and variety of her stock and her engagement with neighbouring retailers,” Cllr Bucknell said.
