Paralympian sharing her inspiring journey in Cirencester

Paralympian, sports commentator, and author Louise Hunt Skelley PLY will be hosting a special talk later this month at The Old Department Store, Market Place in Cirencester to share insights from her memoir What’s Wrong With You? Redefining What’s Possible. Unapologetically & Unstoppable

Louise,a former world-class British wheelchair tennis player and two-time Paralympian, has captivated audiences with her journey of resilience, determination, and defying expectations. Her book delves into her experiences growing up with Spina Bifida, her rise to become one of the world’s top wheelchair tennisplayers, and her transition into a career as a commentator, speaker, and inclusivity advocate.

Speaking about the upcoming event, Louise said “I am so excited to visit The Old Department Store and share my journey with the community. My book is about embracing who you are, challenging limitations, and redefining what is possible. I hope that by sharing my experiences, I can inspire others to pursue their dreams, no matter the obstacles.”

Louise will be a guest speaker as part of The Grace Network’s community-based projectt his summer called “Storytelling & Shared Voices”.

“We’re so excited to welcome Louise Hunt Skelley to The Old Department Store as part of our ‘Storytelling and Shared Voices’ theme. Louise is a brilliant example of a local individual whose story needs to be heard,” said Annie Campbell, Communications and Community Lead at The Grace Network.

“At The Old Department Store, we’re reimagining the high street not just as a place to shop, but as a place to gather, to listen, and to be changed. Storytelling is one way we’re bringing this building back to life — by amplifying voices like Louise’s that remind us what courage, resilience and community can mean.”

Louise’s event will take place at The Old Department Store on Friday 29th August at 5:30pm.This will include a talk from Louise, a Q&A session, and an opportunity for attendees to purchase signed copies of her book.
