Local corporates in with the chance of seeing England’s Lionesses in action

This summer, Wiltshire’s domestic abuse charity FearLess is running its first FIFA Women’s World Cup Corporate Sweepstake and local businesses could be in with a chance of seeing members of the Lionesses in action.

The charity is looking for 32 local businesses to join its world cup sweepstake, running from 20th July to 20th August, where the winning team can get their hands on: four super league tickets with Bristol City against a top league side, a luxury food and drink hamper from John Lewis, worth over £100, a gin drinks hamper from Fossil Coast Drinks, worth £80 and two tickets to the Bath or Exeter Life Awards (with dinner and drinks) worth £300 -making for an amazing networking opportunity.

The charity’s new sweepstake aims to bring local businesses together for “a fun, competitive event which has the capacity to save and change local lives!”

Local lives like Jacob’s.
Jacob was referred to FearLess at just 11 years old. He was angry, apprehensive, and struggling to open up about his emotions.
His keyworker said: “We played games to start off with and discussed all of Jacob’s likes and dislikes. The sessions took a lot longer than normal to complete due to the trauma Jacob had experienced. He couldn’t discuss his experiences for very long.”

As Jacob began to trust his keyworker, he spoke about how he had been physically and emotionally abused by his father and his grandfather.
“It was heart-breaking to hear what he had gone through. He couldn’t recognise his emotions and just knew he was angry. A lot of these emotions were around fear; fear from his father, grandfather and fear of hurting his mum and becoming like his dad.”

FearLess supported Jacob and his family. He had a positive experience at Court, where restrictions were put in place stopping both his father and his grandfather having contact with him or the other family members. The family is now moving forward towards recovery.

For just £100 entry, local businesses can be making a massive impact in their community, helping the charity to break the cycle and the taboo around domestic abuse. An epidemic that affects 1 in 4 women, 1 in 6 men and 1 in 5 children across the UK.
