Leading mobility aids company named as ‘Great Place to Work’

Mobility aids designer and manufacturer Urathon has been officially certified as a ‘Great Place to Work’ for the first time. The prestigious accreditation is based entirely on what current employees say about their experience working at the Wiltshire-based company.

Great Place To Work is the global authority on workplace culture, employee experience, and the leadership behaviours proven to deliver market-leading revenue, employee retention, and increased innovation.

Lucy Carson, Managing Director of Urathon, which owns a manufacturing base in China and has its head office in Calne, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have achieved the Great Place To Work certification. This recognition is a direct reflection of our incredible team’s dedication, passion, and the supportive culture we have built together. Creating an environment where everyone feels valued and motivated is at the heart of everything we do, and we couldn’t be prouder of this fantastic milestone.”

Urathon is a 30-year-old company which pioneers innovation in the mobility aids and medical devices sector. Its founder, Hugh Sims-Hilditch, created the flat-free tyres which are now used on wheelchairs across the world.

As well as designing and manufacturing its own products, Urathon sources high-quality products from a network of trusted suppliers, adapting them and importing them directly to serve the UK healthcare market. It supplies products to a network of mobility aid retailers and community equipment providers such as Medequip.

Sarah Lewis-Kulin, Vice President of Global Recognition at Great Place To Work, said: “Great Place To Work Certification is a highly coveted achievement that requires consistent and intentional dedication to the overall employee experience. By successfully earning this recognition, it is evident that Urathon stands out as one of the top companies to work for, providing a great workplace environment for its employees.”

The Great Place To Work certification highlights the cohesion of Urathon’s 18-strong workforce, many of whom are long-serving employees, with decades of experience between them.
