A collection of furniture designed by the King’s cousin David Linley, Earl of Snowdon, goes under the hammer in Wiltshire this week (May 7).
The pieces, expected to sell for over £4,000, all come from the estate of a man from Surrey which is now being sold off. He collected many items including several bespoke pieces by Linley, the luxury British home decor and furniture company, founded by David Linley in 1985.
Their bespoke furniture and accessories specialise in fine, unusual and exotic woods and would have cost £1000s when purchased. David Linley stepped away from the business in 2022 after almost 40 years. He is, of course, known as a member of the extended royal family as he is the son of Princess Margret and Lord Snowdon.
Gareth Wasp, head auctioneer at RWB Auctions said:
“I’m delighted to be selling these pieces of furniture designed and custom-made by David Linley. The exceptional quality of these is clear to see in the way they have been made and structured.
“By offering these high-quality pieces it allows our clients to buy such items at a fraction of the retail cost. Items like this rarely come on to the market,” Gareth said.
The items are;
- A burr wood extending dining table with two additional leaves, standing on four pillared cross bases – estimated to sell for between £2,500 and £3,500.

- An inlaid burr coffee table standing on tapering legs. Stamped “Linley” to underside. Estimated to sell for between £300 and £500.
