Castle Lodge Care Home supports Cake4Kindness Day with donation to Mere Toddlers Foodbank

Staff from Castle Lodge Care Home in Mere, which is set to open in January, took part in Cake4Kindness Day on Thursday 20th November, joining care homes across the Country Court group in supporting the national initiative. Cake4Kindness is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) that works to reduce loneliness and social isolation among people experiencing homelessness. The organisation encourages communities to come together through baking and acts of support. Although the home is not yet open to residents, the Castle Lodge team were keen to get involved locally. Staff prepared a selection of homemade cakes and delivered them to the Mere Toddlers Foodbank, which provides vital support to families with young children.

The donation was warmly received by the foodbank. Anne, speaking on behalf of Mere Toddlers Foodbank, commented:

“Mere Toddlers Foodbank was very grateful to receive such lovely cakes from Castle Lodge Care Home and is looking forward to working closely with Chris Guest in the future to benefit from his offer of further support.”

Wendy Perkins, Home Manager at Castle Lodge Care Home, said:
“We’re pleased to support Cake4Kindness Day and contribute to a cause that benefits local families. Community involvement is important to us, and this was a meaningful way to start building connections in Mere ahead of our opening.”

The cakes were delivered by Chris Guest, Customer Relations Manager, who added:
“It was a pleasure to meet the volunteers at the Mere Toddlers Foodbank and offer our support. We look forward to continuing to work with local organisations as we prepare to welcome our first residents.”

The care home will host its Grand Community Open Day on Saturday 10th January, where visitors are invited to drop in anytime between 10am and 4pm. Guests can enjoy live music, complimentary food and refreshments, guided tours of the new home, and the opportunity to meet the friendly Castle Lodge team. Everyone is welcome.
