Chalkland Vets is an independent, Wiltshire-based veterinary practice that has enjoyed rapid expansion since being founded five years ago, and that success is in part thanks to IT and systems support provided by Black Nova Designs. Since opening their first clinic in Chippenham in 2019, Chalkland Vets has opened additional branches in Melksham and Corsham, with a new location opening in Calne on the 23rd of September.
In the early days, Chalkland Vets faced several IT challenges, including malfunctioning label printers and intermittent phone issues that disrupted daily operations. With a determination to deliver amazing care to their animal patients and their owners, it was clear something needed to change. “We print hundreds of drug labels each day, and when our printer wasn’t working, it was an absolute nightmare,” recalls Dr Phillipa Hunt at Chalkland Vets “Black Nova Designs started working with us four years ago, reviewing our IT and phone systems, and introducing solutions to every issue. Since then, everything has been running so much more smoothly and we’re able to serve our customers far better.”
Through Black Nova Designs’ IT solutions, the team at Chalkland Vets was able to focus on their primary mission of caring for animals rather than battling daily technical problems. “It was a godsend having people who understood our issues and could resolve them remotely,” continues Dr Phillipa Hunt. “Black Nova’s team quickly accessed our system and fixed any problems without us having to spend endless hours trying to figure things out.”
As Chalkland Vets grew and opened new branches, Black Nova Designs has continued to provide crucial IT support, helping to select and install the right IT systems for each clinic. That includes supplying and installing fibre broadband, VOIP phones (voice over internet protocol), new computers (software and hardware), structured cabling, networking (including Wi-Fi) and wallboard TVs to all premises. The Black Nova team also delivered their MSP software stack, which includes keeping Chalkland Vets up to date with Microsoft systems, Cyber Essentials Ready, also supplying and maintaining the label and A4 printers, and keeps all devices up to date.
