Concerned about the impact of pet treatments on our environment, local independent veterinary practice, The Peacocks Veterinary Clinic, based in Chippenham and Corsham, have introduced a new offering to provide a sustainable choice for their clients.
Top Pet Club – Nature Care is a new take on care – for your pet, for our wildlife, for our planet.
Peacock Vets don’t just care for your pets – they also care about sustainability and looking after our planet. They wanted to ensure that they continued to give their clients great value benefits, but now include unique options to enable pet owners to care for their pets whilst caring for nature, too.
Increasing evidence suggests that anti-parasitic treatments used for our pets are significantly impacting our environment, particularly harming aquatic life and insects, which disrupts overall biodiversity. Some products have already been banned for use within agriculture because their use correlated with a decline in the bee population, for example. For these reasons, Peacock Vets has decided to reinvent their popular Top Pet Club plans to include eco-friendly options called ‘Nature Care’.
Iris Kestemont MRCVS, owner of Peacock Vets, commented on the launch of Nature Care:
“As an independent practice, we are able to offer what our clients want in cost-effective ways. I have always believed that our Top Pet Club plans provide the best opportunity to spread the cost of routine and additional care. Including Nature Care, we now give our clients a choice to reduce their impact on nature if it is right for their family situation and for their pets. More and more people are concerned about the effect that chemicals and treatments are having on our environment, so we have responded by adding our unique Nature Care options to our Top Pet Club plans.”
Nature Care is an option for those owners who wish to reduce their impact on our environment when it is safe and appropriate to do so, whilst still receiving all of the other benefits of the Top Pet Club plans. Reducing the amount of preventative treatment used is not practical or feasible for everyone, and it must be the right decision for individuals, their pets, wildlife and our planet. Peacock Vets will always ensure safe and appropriate alternatives are available, continuing to provide treatment if this is not the case.
Iris is passionate about running an independent practice, ensuring that she and her team treat clients’ pets as if they were their own, caring for the environment and supporting other local businesses whenever possible.
Outgoing Mayor of Chippenham, Conor Melvin, was delighted that Iris and the team opened a clinic in Borough Parade. Whilst attending an open event at the end of April, which was held to thank local businesses who had been involved in setting up the Chippenham clinic, he said:
“Chippenham has an increasing number of independent businesses and it’s great that The Peacock Vets has opened in Borough Parade. There is a real business community that supports each other in the town.”
Another local business, situated next door to the vets, The Kitchen by Wine Monkey, provided the wine and freshly-made dips for the open event.
