Wiltshire Digital Drive celebrates after receiving £135,000 in National Lottery funding

Wiltshire Digital Drive is celebrating today after being awarded £135,000 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK.

The non-profit organisation, established in October 2020, exists to recycle, refurbish and redistribute second hand laptops to reduce the digital divide in the county. This valuable funding will be used to recruit a corporate fundraiser on a three year fixed-term contract and will ensure the next stage of the organisation’s growth and sustainability.

Natalie Sherman, Co-Director of Wiltshire Digital Drive, said: “To date we have saved over 6 tonnes of waste from going to landfill and helped over 1300 people to get connected by providing them with their own laptop, free of charge. But there’s so much more to do. Thanks to National Lottery players, this grant means that we can really begin to accelerate our impact in Wiltshire. This will make a big difference to people’s lives.”

During the pandemic, in 2020 alone, The National Lottery Community Fund distributed almost £1 billion to charities and community organisations across the UK.

A full job description for this current vacancy can be found at: https://www.wiltshiredigitaldrive.org/corporate-fundraiser/ and applications for the role close on the 8th May 2022.
