Swindon electrical compliance company celebrates employee’s remarkable career progression and commitment to lifelong learning
Swindon-based electrical compliance specialists, The Electrical Compliance Collective (TECC), are celebrating after one of their employees, Martyn Masters, was shortlisted for the Rising Star of the Year Award at the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Business Awards 2026.
The awards ceremony will take place on 2 July 2026 at Easthampstead Business Park, where Martyn will be joined by several colleagues who are attending to show their support.
Martyn’s nomination recognises an exceptional journey of professional development and determination. Having joined TECC almost ten years ago as a Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) Technician, he steadily progressed through the business, eventually becoming Head Technician and managing a team of technicians.
In an inspiring example of lifelong learning, Martyn made the decision at the age of 38 to pursue a completely new challenge by embarking on an electrical apprenticeship. Now two years into the four-year programme, he continues to balance his studies with his responsibilities within the business while developing the skills needed to become a qualified electrician.
TECC directors Maria McCallum and Peter McCallum said they were immensely proud of Martyn’s achievement.

His journey demonstrates that it is never too late to learn new skills, pursue new qualifications and take on fresh challenges. Being shortlisted for Rising Star of the Year is thoroughly deserved recognition for his commitment and ambition.”
Martyn said he was delighted to have been nominated and shortlisted for the award and is looking forward to attending the ceremony with his colleagues.
The recognition comes after a successful awards season for TECC. At last year’s Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Business Awards, the company won both the Excellence in Customer Service Award and the overall Business of the Year Award.
While the team hopes their winning streak continues this year, they are already celebrating Martyn’s achievement and the positive message it sends about career progression, personal development and the value of investing in people.
