Swindon accountancy says goodbye and hello as one director steps down & another steps up!

Swindon-based PPS Chartered Accountants is saying goodbye to their longstanding director Roger Bloomer and are welcoming Elaine Thomson as his successor.

Roger Bloomer became a director of PPS Chartered Accountants two years ago, when his previous company, which he established in 1991, merged with PPS Chartered Accountants in May 2023.

“My practice and PPS have links going back quite a way. PPS had been my alternative for a long time, and they had always acted as a sounding board for business matters,” said Roger Bloomer.

“PPS has provided more resources for my clients and enabled me to pass over the reins more easily than if I had stayed with my own firm.”

Roger has been working in accountancy for over 40 years before he joined PPS.

“I will miss the interaction with clients but I’m excited to be entering retirement. I look forward to travelling, walking and voluntary work. It will give me more time with my grandchildren.”

Elaine Thomson, who is Roger’s daughter, has taken over the reins as director. Elaine joined PPS in May 2023 as part of their Roger C Bloomer Chartered Accountants merger as she already worked within her father’s firm.

“I have some big shoes to fill but hopefully I’ll be up to the challenge,” Elaine said.“To be a good accountant is to strive to provide the best information possible for clients, to be there to deal with queries in a timely manner and offer the appropriate advice.”

Elaine started working in accounts in 2005, working up to gaining more qualifications to become a Chartered Accountant and this year marks ten years since completing her ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales) training.

“My main aim on taking the directorship is to ensure that my clients receive the same high level of service that they are used to receiving,”
Elaine commented.

Sally Holland, also a partner at PPS, said:“We will miss Roger and we are so grateful for the relationship we have had with him over many years. We wish him every happiness in his retirement. We already know how valuable Elaine will be to the business and we know she will continue to build on Roger’s legacy.”
