Stunning & Colourful Items Go Under the Hammer at Inaugural Asian Arts Sale

Asian arts including fine ceramics, textiles and artwork will be up for auction at the first Asian Arts Sale hosted by RWB Auctions on 30th October at 10am.The team at RWB Auctions has been preparing for this sale for months, and so many items have been consigned that another sale is already being prepared.

Heading up the sale is Asian arts expert Lily Power, who has worked solely in the field of Asian arts for eight years. She was previously employed in a corporate organisation before taking the leap to pursue her life-long love of antiques. She has a particular love of Asian porcelain works of art.

“We are thrilled to have so many colourful, interesting and vibrant items offered in this first sale of its kind at RWB Auctions,” Lily said.

“The objects often have so much history and so many stories to tell. They reflect each community they represent, capturing the unique creativity of those communities.”

There will be more than 350 lots for sale from 11am on October 23 and one of the star lots is a large Chinese bronze vase from the 17th century. It has a pear-shaped body in the style of archaic bronze Hu, raised from a flared foot, decorated with patterns of Taotie masks and flanked by two stylised dragon mask handles. This item is likely to fetch at least £1,000.

Lily has also picked out one of a pair of porcelain vases of the Kangxi period which is from the 17th century in turquoise glaze with a moulded flying dragon applied on the neck of the vases. These have an estimate of £400 to £600.

Another item is a piece of artwork by artist Yuling Liu (b. 1955) called ‘Renzhe’ (2014) which is an oil on canvas, signed and dated. His work has been in many exhibitions globally including solo exhibitions in France by invitation from the French government in 2016 to 2017. He has won many awards for his work. This piece is estimated to sell for at least £4,000.

Gareth Wasp, head auctioneer at RWB Auctions, said: “Naturally, we are excited to hold our inaugural Asian sale with my colleague Lily Power heading up the department. The Asian art market continues to be incredibly strong and I’m pleased that our RWB Auctions will be part of this growing market.”

The next sale of this kind will take place on Wednesday December 11. For more information about this inaugural Asian Art sale visit https://rwbauctions.com/auctions/upcoming-auctions/
