Royal Wootton Basset’s high street auction house, RWB Auctions, will be featured this week in the BBC’s popular daytime series The Travelling Auctioneers.
In January, the RWB team hosted a sale for The Travelling Auctioneers, where they brought their own experts, presenters, cameras and a live audience.
The BBC One programme, first broadcast in 2022, follows a team of specialists who transform unwanted items into desirable auction lots, raising money for UK families. Having aired five seasons to date on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, the Wiltshire shows will be live on iPlayer this month with two episodes airing on Tuesday June 16 and again on June 25.
“It was such a thrill to welcome the hosts and crew of The Travelling Auctioneers in January,” said Gareth Wasp, Head Auctioneer at RWB Auctions.
“The team here had a fantastic time cataloguing the lots they cosigned which ranged from collectable toys to gold jewellery, audio equipment, vintage Burberry coats and mid-century furniture. There were some great items which generated a lot of interest to our buyers.”
Viewers will see Izzie Balmer, JJ Chalmers and James ‘JB’ Broad in action as they present and sell items sourced for the programme. In all, 92 lots went under the hammer. Highlights included a rare Kew Gardens 50p coin, a vintage 1979 Peugeot 103 moped, an 1872 early edition of Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass, and a nostalgic collection of 1950s scouting items.
Gareth added: “We’ll be tuning in to watch from the RWB Auctions even though we know what happened! Having a sale like this one broadcast on national television firmly puts Royal Wootton Bassett on the map for both collectors and viewers at home.
“It was so exciting to see the saleroom buzzing and we can’t wait to see that translate on screen. We’ll keep the surprise of the auction outcomes under wraps so viewers can watch without any spoilers!”
Episodes featuring RWB Auctions are set to air on BBC One on Tuesday 16th June and Thursday 25th June. For more information visit https://rwbauctions.com/
