Local business leader Sally Holland appointed President of BNI White Horse

Sally Holland, Partner at PPS Chartered Accountants, has stepped into the role of President at BNI White Horse – a Swindon-based networking and referral group.

BNI, or Business Network International, is a global business networking organisation with more than 500 chapters across the UK and over 13,000 members. Its focus is to help local businesses grow through trusted referrals and regular in-person connections.

The BNI White Horse group, which covers the Swindon and Chippenham area, officially launched in November 2024. It’s already become a friendly and productive space for professionals to share opportunities, advice and support each week.

Sally joined the group in the summer of 2024, before its official launch. She said it was the people who convinced her to join.

“I already knew a few people in the room and honestly, everyone was lovely,” she said. “I’d heard plenty about BNI over the years, but I wanted to see for myself, and I’m so glad I went along to that first meeting.”

In the first year alone, Sally says the experience has brought plenty of benefits for both her and PPS.

“Of course, there have been referrals, but the professional connections have been just as important. The support from the group is great and the training that BNI provides has also been really useful.”

When she was asked to take on the role of President, she said it felt like a real privilege – but also a challenge.

“It’s a great honour, but I knew it wouldn’t be a small task,” she said. “We already had a fantastic group of people; I just felt we needed a slight nudge so everyone could get more out of being part of BNI. Once I knew who could help me make that happen, I said yes.”

Her focus for the year ahead is clear.

“Our group is built on genuine warmth, kindness and great connections – all qualities that make visitors feel instantly welcome,” said Sally. “I want to grow our membership and referrals, but without losing that same inviting atmosphere that makes our group so special.”

Sally has been networking for more than 15 years and still enjoys it as much as ever.

“I love meeting new people and being surrounded by experts in other professions, you can learn so much. Networking has so many benefits, you just need to keep an eye on the numbers to make sure the time and cost make sense for you,” she said.

Her advice for anyone who’s never been to a BNI meeting is simple. “Give it a go, then you can make up your own mind,” she said. “BNI might surprise you! It’s full of people who genuinely want to help you succeed.”
