Local accountants are aiming high for its charity of the year

Following the success of last year’s fundraising efforts, the team at Gooding Accounts is setting their sights high for its 2022 charity of the year, Ruksak45218.

Chosen by the team, this Trowbridge-based charity aims to provide the essentials of bedding, clothing, toiletries, footwear, school stationery, sleeping bags, and other items, to Wiltshire families who are in need of some extra support.

Thanks to a number of creative and inspired fundraising efforts, the accountancy practice managed to raise more than £20,000 for local charities in 2021, and they’re excited to see how much they can raise this year.

GoodingAccountsSam Gooding, a partner at Gooding Accounts, said: “The team all put some ideas forward for different charities, and this one was a clear winner. Many of us have children ourselves and raising money for a charity that provides the essentials for those needing a little extra help, was an obvious choice.

“We’ve got a number of fundraising events coming up during the year and it would be amazing to raise lots of funds for them. Alongside this charity, we’re also taking part in one-off events that raise money for other local charities. By handing over the money we’ve raised, they will be able to help and support more people in our communities- and that’s what it’s all about”.

To get the fundraising off to a good start, the team is holding a quiz night at Trowbridge Rugby Club on Friday, April 1. Starting at 7.30pm, tickets are £10 per person, which includes food, and teams can be up to six people. To book your team, give Gooding Accounts a call on 01373 510020 or pop into its offices.

The charity has also recently set up a sponsored skydive, and the more adventurous members of the Wiltshire-based accountants have already put their names down.

Rory, from RukSak45218, said: “We’re so grateful that Gooding Accounts has chosen us as their charity of the year. Many people are struggling to make ends meet and the stress this places on adults and children alike can be unbearable. At Ruksak45218 we aim to alleviate at least some of that by ensuring no child goes without the essential items they need to live their day-to-day lives. The money raised by Gooding Accounts will go towards helping these families and will make such a difference. We can’t wait to work with them during the year.”

Along with fundraising for their charity of the year, members of the team will also be taking part in the ‘It’s a Knockout’ charity event hosted by Wiltshire Air Ambulance on May 8 in Melksham. A team of 10 will take on the obstacle course and other challenges to help raise funds for this other, worthy, local charity.
