Lawn Manor Academy pupils set their sights on the next international stage

After wowing crowds in New York City this summer, the talented young dancers from Lawn Manor Academy (LMA) are already looking ahead to their next international challenges in Paris and San Diego.

A group of 14 pupils aged between 12 and 15 recently brought the energy and spirit of Lawn Manor Academy to life as they performed in Times Square. During their trip they were also able to dance on a Broadway stage at the New Amsterdam Theatre, before seeing a show on the same stage afterwards.

The pupils also gained invaluable creative experience during a workshop with Broadway show creators of Disney’s The Lion King. They eagerly took on the challenge of learning the words and movement to the song ‘He Lives in You’. They also excelled in a special dance workshop with a Taylor Swift backing dancer.

The pupils, who had all fundraised to pay for the trip, immersed themselves in New York’s rich cultural and artistic landmarks, including the iconic Ellen’s Stardust Diner, touring Central Park in a horse and carriage, and visiting the Empire State Building, the 9/11 Memorial, the Statue of Liberty and Grand Central Station.

Teacher of Dance and Performing Arts, Natasha Dixon, said: “This trip was an unparalleled success. I am super proud of the students they embraced every opportunity, showed phenomenal dedication, and truly made their mark in New York – the students truly became a dance family.

Inspired by their success in New York, Natasha has set her sights on the next international competition. “This trip has ignited something special,” added Natasha. “Our pupils have seen what’s possible when you dream big and I truly believe they have the talent to achieve it too. We hope to head to Disneyland Paris to compete again in 2026 and then back to America again hopefully for the Holiday Bowl Experience in San Diego, as well as taking on more local challenges too, like performing at Alton Towers in the summer.”
