Keevil School unveils innovative energy wall thanks to PTA fundraising

Pupils at Keevil School are benefiting from an exciting new addition to their playground following the installation of a cutting-edge Energy Wall, made possible through the dedicated fundraising efforts of the Friends of Keevil School (FoKS), the school’s parent teacher association (PTA).

The interactive Energy Wall is a versatile and engaging resource that combines physical activity with learning. Featuring a range of light-up games, it encourages movement, coordination, and teamwork, whilst also supporting key curriculum areas such as Phonics and Maths.

Importantly, the Energy Wall also promotes environmental awareness. Powered through movement, it helps pupils understand the value of energy, sustainability, and eco-friendly practices in a hands-on and memorable way, reinforcing the school’s commitment to environmental education.

This installation marks a significant milestone, as it is the first Energy Wall of its kind within the Acorn Trust and the first in the county of Wiltshire. The innovation places Keevil School at the forefront of combining active play with educational development across the trust.

Funds for the project were raised entirely by FoKS whose ongoing work as a PTA supports enrichment opportunities for pupils and enhances the school environment.

The Energy Wall also highlights the impact of the school’s much-loved Scarecrow Trail, an annual family fun day organised by the Friends of Keevil School to raise funds for school projects such as this. This year’s Scarecrow Trail will take place on 16th–17th May 2026 and fundraising efforts will go towards an all-weather outdoor learning space, including a new shelter for the school’s forest school field.

Caroline Noonan, Chair of FoKS commented.

“As a PTA, we’re always looking for ways to enhance the children’s experience at school. The Energy Wall is something really special, it gets them moving while supporting their learning and understanding of the importance of sustainability. Events like our Scarecrow Trail make projects like this possible and this year we’re excited to be raising funds for an outdoor learning shelter.”

Rob Price, CEO of the Acorn Education Trust

“We are delighted to see Keevil School leading the way with the introduction of the Energy Wall. Innovative resources like this support both physical wellbeing and learning and we are excited to see the positive impact it will have on pupils.”

The Energy Wall is expected to become a key feature of school life, supporting both active playtimes and structured lessons, helping pupils to develop essential skills in a fun, engaging and environmentally conscious way.
