Harry Ramsden’s, the UK’s most famous fish and chips brand, opens its new Swindon restaurant on Monday 19 October, ahead of an official Grand Opening celebration on Friday 23 October – when the price of its signature fish drops back to 1928 levels for the first 100 customers through the door.
The celebration will run all day at the new restaurant, with a Spin the Wheel game offering bespoke Harry Ramsden’s merchandise, face painting for younger visitors, and the chance to sample classic dishes from the menu.
The new restaurant is a Harry’s Hut – the brand’s compact format, named after the ten-foot wooden hut where Harry Ramsden first started serving fish and chips in Guiseley, West Yorkshire, in 1928. Almost a century on, Harry’s Hut brings that same standard into a smaller footprint: the same hand-battered fish, the same freshly cooked chips prepared in beef-dripping, without compromise.
The new restaurant will open inside Frasers Plus Designer Outlet Swindon, one of the largest covered shopping destinations in Europe. Harry Ramsden’s joins a growing list of food and drink names at the centre, bringing its own slice of British heritage to a building already steeped in it.
