Good Energy commended in Wiltshire Life Awards

Chippenham company Good Energy has been commended in the Wiltshire Life Awards 2023.

It was a finalist in the Green Business category of the prestigious annual event, which was held at Devizes Corn Exchange and is featured in the latest issue of the magazine.

The clean energy company was awarded third place in recognition of its efforts to tackle the climate crisis.

Good Energy sources its power from a UK network of more than 1,700 independent generators including solar farms, wind farms and hydroelectric projects, allowing it to match
customers with 100 per cent renewable electricity.

It slashed its carbon emissions by moving to a modern office which dramatically reduced its energy bills, and switched to a hybrid-working model allowing its 320 staff to work
from home for part of the week which also reduced the impact of commuting.

When colleagues do come into the office, they can take advantage of a Cycle to Work scheme and opportunities to lease electric or low-emission vehicles.

The business has also volunteered to sign up to the Science Based Targets initiative which commits it to an ambitious goal of a 50% reduction in emissions by 2030.

Good Energy sustainability and facilities manager Cherish Jackson, who received the commendation, said: “We were grateful to be shortlisted for such a prestigious award, especially
in the face of such tough competition.

“The gala dinner was a great opportunity to learn more about the wonderful work being undertaken by Wiltshire businesses who are playing their part in the creation of a more
sustainable future.”
