GEL Studios helps to feed lonely and vulnerable people this Christmas

GEL Studios has donated £1,000 to Christ Church Swindon who will be bringing vulnerable and isolated members of the community together this Christmas.

The donation will be used to purchase enough food and supplies to provide a three-course Christmas dinner with all the festive trimmings for over 100 people on Christmas day.

From 12:00 to 3:30pm on Christmas Day, Christ Church, based in Old Town, will be opening its community centre to anyone who does not have someone to spend Christmas with. They will provide a free Christmas dinner, accompanied by carols and a viewing of the King’s Speech.

Christ Church works closely with the Swindon community to provide chaplaincy, prayer ministry, bereavement care and home visits to those unable to travel to the church. Its community centre offers education, leisure, social and entertainment facilities to the community.

Swindon-based creative agency GEL Studios specialises in branding, websites, graphic design and marketing. Over the past five years, GEL Studios has supported Christ Church with the design and marketing of their annual Beer Festival.

If you or anyone you know will be lonely this Christmas, reach out to Christ Church to reserve a free space at the event either by calling 01793 617237 or by emailing ccoperations@christchurch.co.uk. Equally if you are able to volunteer time to help transport people to and from the event that would be greatly appreciated.

Graeme Leighfield, Founder of GEL Studios said:

“Giving back to the community is at the core of what we do here at GEL Studios. So this year we made the decision to use our Christmas gift budget towards a donation to a local cause.

“After being made aware of Christ Church’s social media post, I knew straight away that they would be the people we’d support this year.”

Chris Smith, Site Operations Manager at Christ Church said:

“GEL Studios have been very supportive of Christ Church over the last five years. We are so grateful for all of the help they give us. This year their kind donation will ensure that around 100 people aren’t on their own this Christmas day.

“It means that we can fully provide them with a three-course Christmas dinner and all the trimmings without having to worry about the costs.”
