Founder of Jim’s Gym opens a new studio in the Cotswolds

Personal trainer James Hilton, founder of online fitness platform Jim’s Gym, has opened his new studio in Nailsworth in the Cotswolds.

2025 has been a year of growth for James and the opening of his new studio space in Nailsworth, near Stroud, marks the start of an exciting chapter for this South West entrepreneur. This studio will also be the backdrop for his growing online community to support the fitness of the over-55s anywhere.

“It’s been a busy few weeks getting everything set up, but it already feels like home,” James said. “Nailsworth has such a great community feel and it’s the perfect place to keep growing what I do. I’m really looking forward to establishing my business in the town.”

James specialises in working with clients over 50, helping people find enjoyment in exercise to help them feel their best. Some feel unbalanced or less stable than they used to. Others are coming back from illness or injury and want a structured way to get back to feeling great again. Many simply want to enjoy daily life without worrying that something might be “too much” for them.

“Progress often shows up in small ways. Someone may realise they can jump up out of a chair effortlessly. Someone else notices they can walk a little bit faster than they used to when out with friends,” continued James.

In-person sessions are tailored specifically to each individual client, getting them to where they want to be as efficiently as possible and most importantly, ensuring they have fun along the way.

Alongside the new studio, James continues to run Jim’s Gym, his online fitness community for people aged 55 and over. Members join live and recorded classes in strength, Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi and dance exercise, along with book, art and craft clubs, as well as a wonderful community that builds a sense of connection.

The online work and the studio run side by side, offering different ways for people to stay active and connected.

“Working one-to-one has always been an important part of what I do, helping people reap the benefits of having more energy or the confidence they feel being stronger” James said. “My online platform, Jim’s Gym, allows me to reach even more people, and breaks down a lot of barriers to entry, like cost, mobility and a lack of desire to join a traditional gym.”

With the new studio now open, James is welcoming people aged 50 and over who want support to feel fitter and stronger, enabling them to ‘do more’ of the things they love in everyday life.

The studio can be found at 3 Fountain Street, Nailsworth GL6 0BL, with access through the rear entrance.
