Malcolm Brooks has lived in Cricklade for over 45 years with his wife, Gill. Now at the ripe old age of 87, he has had his second novel published.
His first novel published almost exactly two years ago was called ‘The Mediterranean Mystery’ and this is now followed by another murder, mystery story called ‘Murder on the London Underground’.
Malcolm’s latest book starts with a murder at a London Underground station and contains intrigue, suspense and a mystery. What begins as a simple investigation to find out who has been murdered, quickly spirals into a tangled web of secrets, deception and danger.
As the story unfolds, the two detectives investigating the crime have several narrow escapes in their quest to find the murderer. There were two people on the train under investigation, but who are they? A lot more questions need to be asked to find out the identity of the suspects, the murdered person and the murderer.
As the detectives dig deeper, a stash of drugs is discovered, and shots are fired. This results in even more questions that require answers.
This gripping and fast-moving story is a real page-turner and has received a lot of complimentary comments. One person said: “I have just finished reading your book and I am full of admiration for how you managed to write such an intricate plot and pull it all together at the end.” Yet another fan of Malcolm’s book said: “This book has all the makings of a great film.”
“I really enjoy writing murder mysteries,” said Malcolm. “Especially as I wanted to be a detective when I grew up!”
Malcolm is already planning a third book about two twins set in India and England and involves a smuggling plot using sacks of curry powder! Malcolm, who has never been to India and doesn’t care for curry, calls this his spicey mystery!
Malcolm’s life is a lot less exciting than that of his detective characters, as he spends quality time playing Pétanque several times a week at a piste he helped to build overlooking the beautiful Wiltshire countryside at Cricklade Hotel & Spa.
