Britain’s newest sport arrives in Corsham as Padel People launches new multi-court facility

The rapidly growing sport of padel is coming to the Bath and North Wiltshire area, as Padel People opens its latest padel facility in Corsham’s Leafield Industrial Estate. Opening on 13th December, this is the business’s sixth site in a network that stretches from the Midlands through London and into the South-West.

“We’re excited to be accommodating this hugely popular sport, in a location well placed to serve both the Bath area and north Wiltshire,” says Katie Holdoway, Executive Director of HPH, which owns the Leafield site. “Padel People are now well on the way to establishing themselves as one of the UK’s leading padel networks.”

Padel People’s plans for the site include four indoor doubles courts and two indoor singles courts, all with professional grade surfaces and lighting, to ensure year-round play. Three outdoor courts are currently in planning. The facility includes men’s, women’s and accessible changing rooms, a dedicated workspace, and vending machines for both racket/ball hire and food and drink. Ample on-site parking is available.

“We want our new Corsham facility to serve residents across Wiltshire who have previously had limited access to padel courts, including people in nearby Chippenham, Bath, and Trowbridge,” says George Sandbach, co-founder of Padel People.

A dynamic racket sport that combines elements of tennis and squash, padel has taken Europe by storm and is already the second most popular sport in Spain. The UK is now experiencing the padel boom, fuelled by the sport’s social nature and accessibility to players of all ages and abilities.

Padel People’s move into Corsham comes against the backdrop of a surprisingly weak industrial property market in north and west Wiltshire over the past year.
