Archer Ella is still on top of the world

World No. 1 Female Compound Archer, Ella Gibson is celebrating her place at the top of her sport for longer than any other British compound or recurve archer. The British compound archer won her prestigious title after defeating Colombia’s Sara Lopez at the World Games final in Birmingham, Alabama in 2022.

At the time of writing, she has held her number one position for 937 days and, if she can continue her winning form until April 13, she will be able to boast a remarkable 1000 days at the top.

Before reaching this remarkable achievement, Ella still has to compete in several international competitions. She will be at the Great Chicago Open in February; Las Vegas for The Vega Shoot in March and then competing in her first outdoor tournament in the USA on April 2.

Ella (24) from Cirencester, who trains with GB Archery at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre, is also patriotic with her choice of bow. She had her first outing at the British Indoor Nationals earlier this year with her new Mybo bow made by a British manufacturer.

“My new compound bow did not disappoint,” said Ella. “This was my third year in a row of winning gold at this event. Something I only realised when looking back at the event afterwards!”
